Institute for Ascertaining Scientific Consensus
The Institute for Ascertaining Scientific Consensus (IASC) is a global network that can email thousands of scientists with a specific statement of interest, such as “Covid is caused by a virus”, and request an agree/disagree response within two minutes. The responses will be instantly and anonymously recorded in a database, allowing for the calculation of the strength of consensus. This network will be a valuable resource for policymakers and the general public in discerning the level of agreement among scientists on various issues and combating misinformation. It will also provide insight into cross-cultural differences in scientific opinions.

I am a researcher, strategist, and member of IASC’s leadership team. In 2023, I helped grow IASC’s network from 30 to 80 participating institutions.

Galápagos Education and Research Alliance
The Galápagos Education and Research Alliance (GERA) aims to support Galápagos communities in protecting biodiversity, building resilience against climate change, and promoting the health of humans and non-humans alike. GERA is a partnership among these communities and faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, Villanova University, and Rutgers University. Our work focuses on addressing the most pressing issues facing the Galápagos: How can population growth continue while preserving the biodiversity for which Galápagos is justly famous? How can these communities prepare for the coming climate emergency? How can the tools of community science be used to increase civic engagement with these issues and empower the local community to protect their home?

I am a program manager at GERA. From 2020-2022, I managed a program that helped Galápagos residents establish, grow, and maintain economically and environmentally sustainable small businesses. Click here to read an article about this initiative.
